The innovation project Hönan · EIP-AGRI

What we are building until 2028

With support from the European Union through the Swedish Board of Agriculture, we are developing The Hen further together with producers, a packer, advisors and researchers.

The project runs until the end of 2028Whatever is finished is released to every user as we go.

What is already on the farm

The farm’s existing systems, such as the feed system, are connected to The Hen so the figures are collected automatically. Less to type by hand and fewer mistakes.

Feed system

Seven work packages

Each one becomes a feature in The Hen.

01

Integration with existing hardware and software

Feed systems, water meters, energy meters, climate control, ammonia sensors and egg packing machines are read automatically.

02

Integration with the packer’s settlement

The settlement goes straight from the packer into the farm’s The Hen, so producer and packer see the same figures.

03

Profitability module

Profitability calculated as you go: what a kilo of eggs costs today, how feed affects it and when it pays to replace a flock.

04

Benchmarking

Compare the farm’s KPIs with the industry, anonymously and per life week.

05

Calendar

Planning and reminders for tests, vaccinations and treatments.

06

Automatic climate calculations

Climate impact per kilo of eggs calculated on the farm’s own figures for feed, energy, water and production. Included in the product and a basis for climate premiums and certifications.

07

Mobile app

A native app for daily entry in the barn, with everything the web app has.

EU-funded project

The project Hönan – bringing egg production into the 21st century has received funding from the European Union through the Swedish Board of Agriculture within the European Innovation Partnership EIP-AGRI. The goal is a tool that strengthens Swedish egg production through digital data sharing across the whole value chain, for better traceability, efficiency and climate reporting.

Our vision

Sweden’s platform for the whole egg industry.

We start with the producers. In time we want to bring in packers, hatcheries, rearers, abattoirs and feed companies, so everyone in the chain works from the same figures and runs a smoother business.
